PESHAWAR:

Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) suspended its two employees over the charges of alleged gang rape of a female patient.

The hospital administration took initial action against two class-IV ward boys after the health advisor took notice of the incident, and an FIR was registered against them.

The incident was reported to have occurred at the beginning of the month. It was reported that the friendship was developed between the female patient and one of the ward boys while she was receiving treatment at the hospital. An official said the phone numbers were exchanged between the female patient and ward boy during the former's regular visits to the hospital for treatment of mental health issues.

However, the friendship took an ugly turn when the class-IV employee invited the girl to the hospital, where she was reportedly raped in a room adjacent to the Outpatient Department (OPD).

According to an FIR, a colleague of the main suspect has also been named in the alleged crime. The victim reportedly suffered multiple instances of sexual assault.

Subsequently, the two class-IV employees were blamed for abducting the girl and making her hostage for an extended period.

Police sources told The Express Tribune that the girl's relatives had previously filed a missing person report. However, she recently reappeared and went to the police station to report the incident herself.
