Police claim to have arrested the ringleader of an Afghan gang involved in robbing citizens and recovered looted goods and illegal weapons from them.
A citizen, Muhammad Bilal of Fateh Jang lodged a complaint with the Fateh Jang police that he was returning home on a motorcycle after visiting his paternal cousin Yaqoob. Four people, who were standing on the road near the brick kiln owned by Mehboob Mali, threw a flashlight in his eyes and forced him to stop.
The suspects snatched a mobile phone and Rs84,000 from him at gunpoint and fled. The police registered a case and managed to arrest three members of the gang — Hikmatullah, Sabit Khan and Milad Pasran Akhmat Gull in a short span of time.
The police obtained physical remand of the suspects and during the investigation, recovered looted goods and illicit weapons comprising two 30-bore pistols and bullets. Separate cases were registered against the accused Hikmatullah and Sabit Khan under the Arms Ordinance.
DPO Dr Sardar Ghayas Gul Khan praised the police team for busting the gang and said solid evidence would be submitted to the court to ensure that the accused are punished tight.
