On January 16, 2025, to mark the 46th birthday of the late Aaliyah, Barbie released a new doll in her honor. Named Barbie Music Series Aaliyah Doll, it was priced at $55 and became available on Mattel Creations' official website. According to recent reports, it has already sold out.

The release of the doll was confirmed on December 14 via an Instagram fan page dedicated to Aaliyah, showcasing a doll with a face that mirrored her expressions. The caption highlighted that the doll's release date coincided with Aaliyah's birthday.

After news of the doll selling out spread, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts. One fan urged Mattel to restock, writing, "Not the Aaliyah Barbie already sold out on their website! Let's get that restock going @Mattel!"

Another user mentioned they had the doll in their cart but missed out on purchasing it before it sold out. Another person commented that the sell-out of the doll showed that Aaliyah's legacy is still in high demand. "I literally had it in my cart about to check out smh," one fan shared on X. "HER POWER!!! But seriously...it just goes to show how in demand she still is," another fan added.

One fan expressed their frustration but also acknowledged the inevitable outcome: "I'm upset but also duh ugh," they wrote on X.

Reactions continued with one person asking if the doll had sold out worldwide or just in the UK. Another user vented frustration over resellers, stating that it’s impossible to buy anything, while one fan mentioned they never got the chance to purchase the doll.

Aaliyah tragically passed away in a plane crash in the Bahamas in 2001, along with her hairdresser, bodyguard, and record executive, according to a report by People magazine in August 2024.
