Lil Baby has finally responded to the mixed reviews surrounding his album WHAM, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.

Despite the success of the project, the rapper faced criticism from fans and notable figures in the hip-hop community, including DJ Akademiks and popular streamer Kai Cenat. Cenat, in particular, gave WHAM a 6/10 rating, calling it a disappointing effort.

In a recent interview with Complex, Lil Baby addressed Cenat’s review, revealing that he had seen the clips of the criticism but didn’t take it personally. “I saw little clips of it,” he said. “People like Kai Cenat, I feel like they’re younger. The streamers and people who do reviews, that’s just their opinion. They know nothing about music for real.”

Lil Baby emphasized that fans should form their own opinions about his music rather than relying on critics. "I never go and watch somebody else’s review of an album," he explained. "I’m going to listen to the album and form my own opinion."

He also suggested that the younger generation of reviewers might not fully grasp his artistic direction. “They won’t really understand how I’m coming,” he continued. “You have to be a little older to really get it.”

Despite the criticism, Lil Baby remains confident in his work, encouraging fans to trust their own judgment when it comes to his music. WHAM may have sparked mixed reactions, but the rapper’s confidence in his craft remains unshaken.
