The latest Premier League action delivered high drama across four key matches, with Arsenal edging closer to league leaders Liverpool, Newcastle breaking records, Everton faltering under David Moyes, and Leicester City extending their losing streak.

Arsenal 2–1 Tottenham: Relief and Resilience in the North London Derby

Arsenal narrowed the gap to Liverpool to just four points with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Tottenham at the Emirates. Despite falling behind to a deflected Son Heung-min strike, the Gunners rallied through a Dominic Solanke own-goal and Leandro Trossard's bobbling shot late in the first half, which proved to be the winner.

Arsenal dominated possession but struggled to convert opportunities, leaving fans on edge as Pedro Porro nearly equalized for Spurs late on. Manager Mikel Arteta celebrated the win but acknowledged ongoing concerns about Arsenal’s lack of a reliable striker, with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus sidelined due to injuries.

Meanwhile Tottenham, missing several key players, leaned on their 21-year-old keeper Kinsky, who showed promise but was undone by Arsenal's set-piece prowess. Spurs manager Ange Postecogloum, who is now on thin-ice after Spurs' 11th loss in the Premier League this season, introduced James Maddison and Brennan Johnson in the second half, but it was too little, too late.

Aston Villa 1–0 Everton: Moyes’ Return Spoiled

David Moyes’ second stint at Everton began with a narrow loss to Aston Villa, as Ollie Watkins’ clinical second-half strike sealed the Toffees’ fate. The 61-year-old manager faces a daunting task to save Everton from relegation, with the team languishing one point above the drop zone.

Everton’s misfiring attack, led by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, squandered multiple chances, including a golden opportunity deep into added time. Moyes expressed concern over his side’s inability to score, noting Calvert-Lewin’s 16-game goal drought.

Villa, meanwhile, held firm after Watkins’ winner, with Boubacar Kamara clearing a late effort off the line to secure all three points. Manager Unai Emery praised his side’s defensive discipline, which left Everton winless in their last 11 league games.

Newcastle 3–0 Wolves: Isak Leads Record-Breaking Win

Alexander Isak delivered a masterclass as Newcastle thumped Wolves 3–0 to secure their ninth consecutive win across all competitions. The Swedish striker scored twice and assisted Anthony Gordon’s goal, tying a club record for consecutive victories.

Isak’s brace included a deflected opener and a well-timed finish from Bruno Guimaraes’ through ball. He later showcased his playmaking skills by setting up Gordon for the third goal.

Wolves, despite flashes of promise, struggled defensively, leaving manager Vitor Pereira frustrated. Late efforts from Matheus Cunha and Santiago Bueno were thwarted, with Martin Dubravka’s stunning save capping Newcastle’s dominant performance.

Wolves have now slipped into the relegation zone, highlighting the uphill battle for Pereira.

The Magpies climbed into the top four, reigniting their Champions League ambitions. Isak is also on the brink of consecutive Premier League goals record. Newcastle face Bournemouth on the weekend, where no doubt the Swede will look to continue his electric goal-scoring form.

Crystal Palace 2–0 Leicester: Pressure Mounts on Van Nistelrooy

Leicester City’s downward spiral continued with a sixth straight defeat, falling 2–0 to Crystal Palace. Jean-Philippe Mateta’s composed finish and Marc Guehi’s volley secured the Eagles’ victory, moving them eight points clear of the relegation zone.

After the match, Palace manager Oliver Glasner praised the support shown by the traveling Palace faithful as instrumental in his team's recent successes.

The Foxes, now 19th in the table, struggled to respond after Mateta’s opener and hit the woodwork through Boubakary Soumare. Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy lamented his team’s defensive frailties, which have seen them concede at least two goals in each of their last six games.

Chants against Leicester’s director of football, Jon Rudkin, echoed through a subdued King Power Stadium, reflecting growing discontent among fans. The defeat leaves Van Nistelrooy with a monumental task to steer Leicester away from the Championship.
