Four terrorists killed in North Waziristan IBO: ISPR
Security forces have killed four terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.
The operation, conducted overnight between January 14 and 15, targeted the terrorists’ hideout after credible intelligence reports confirmed their presence, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a heavy exchange of gunfire, four terrorists were neutralised, it said, adding that security forces also recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the site.
The ISPR stated that the terrorists were involved in several terrorist activities against security forces and the targeted killings of innocent civilians.
Following the operation, clearance activities were initiated in the area to eliminate any remaining threats. The ISPR reiterated the military's resolve to uproot terrorism and ensure peace and stability across the country.
“Pakistan’s security forces remain steadfast in their commitment to eradicating the menace of terrorism,” the statement added.
Yesterday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited Peshawar where he met with political leaders from various parties in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to discuss the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
During the meeting, he stressed that while adversaries may attempt to spread fear and instability, Pakistan's security forces will not retreat and will respond decisively to any efforts aimed at disrupting peace in the country, Express News reported.
According to a statement by the ISPR, General Munir was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar upon his arrival in the city. He was briefed in detail about the current security situation, including ongoing counterterrorism operations against the extremist group "Khawarij" and other threats.
During the visit, the army chief commended the sacrifices and determination of the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism. He noted that the country's security forces had achieved exemplary success in combating terrorism, making the nation proud of their efforts.
He highlighted the significant progress made in weakening terrorist groups, with the elimination of key leaders and the destruction of their networks, sending a strong message that there is no place for terrorism in Pakistan. He reassured that this fight will continue until its logical conclusion.
