Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Tuesday emphasised the need to prioritise public safety and awareness, stating that road accidents claim lives and cause disabilities, highlighting the importance of serving humanity.
Speaking as the chief guest at the Consumer Road Safety Awards organised by the Consumer Association of Pakistan, he commended the initiative for its efforts to save lives and promote road safety.
Sharjeel Memon stressed the need to respect traffic laws, educate children on road safety, and raise public awareness. He pointed out that reckless driving and impatience on the road lead to tragic consequences for both individuals and society. He also held parents accountable for allowing underage children to drive and urged the media to play its role in spreading traffic awareness.
Reflecting on past challenges, Sharjeel Memon recalled targeted attacks on Karachi's traffic police officers but praised their resilience. He acknowledged the dedication of traffic personnel, who endure harsh weather conditions to manage road safety, calling them "national heroes."
