Punjab to benefit from Central Asian state's experience in tourism

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Azerbaijan Ambassador Khizr Farhadov discussed promotion of bilateral relations in trade, cultural exchanges and various other fields.

During a meeting with the ambassador, the chief minister reiterated her commitment to strengthening cultural and educational relations, and agreed on making joint efforts to explore trade and investment opportunities in various sectors.

The chief minister apprised the ambassador of various ongoing development projects and public welfare initiatives of her government.

She said a recent visit of the president of Azerbaijan to Pakistan would help promote bilateral relations.

She added that there was immense scope to strengthen the relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

Cooperation in the fields of education, health, agriculture and energy could be promoted, she said.

The chief minister said, "We want to benefit from Azerbaijan's experience in tourism."

She added, "We are trying to make Punjab a hub of regional trade." She invited Azerbaijani businesspersons to invest in Punjab and assured them of a special package of incentives.

Ambassador Khizr Farhadov expressed keen interest in various sectors of investment in Punjab.

He invited Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to visit Azerbaijan.
