QUETTA:

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has directed the immediate arrest of individuals nominated in the Sanjdi coalmine tragedy.

He issued the order during a high-level meeting with the Mines and Minerals Department and mine owners in which the rising number of accidents in coal mines was critically reviewed.

The CM also ordered the suspension of the concerned inspector, transferring the investigation to the Chief Minister's Inspection Team (CMIT). Expressing dissatisfaction with the Mines Department's inspection teams, he rejected their security-related excuses, insisting that employees failing to fulfil their duties should resign.

The meeting, attended by Provincial Finance and Mineral Development Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, DG PDMA Jahanzeb Khan and other officials, also included KP Assembly Opposition Leader Dr Ubaidullah Khan.

Bugti emphasized adopting modern mining safety protocols and ensuring regular inspections to prevent future incidents.
