Pete Hegseth's Senate confirmation hearing for his nomination as U.S. Secretary of Defense under President Donald Trump was disrupted by multiple protesters.

The hearing, which took place on Tuesday morning, took a chaotic turn when an elderly man behind Hegseth interrupted his speech, calling him a misogynist before being escorted out by security.

This protest was followed by at least two more disruptions, with a woman voicing her objections before being removed, and a man dramatically carried out by U.S. Capitol Police.

Despite the disruptions, Hegseth, the former Fox News weekend anchor, remained composed, calmly continuing his remarks after the interruptions subsided. Hegseth, known for controversial opinions, including his stance against women serving in combat, appeared to expect such backlash.

President Trump, who nominated Hegseth, has praised him as "tough, smart, and a true believer in America First." Another video from the event shows the crowd erupting in applause and chanting "USA!" as Hegseth enters the room.
