Three young men, including two brothers, were abducted by a gang of criminals from Ghotki, Sindh, the criminals have demanded a ransom of Rs6 million for their release, Express News reported.
The victims, who are residents of Rizvia Society in Karachi, were reportedly working in online dry cleaning, managing a Facebook page called ‘Perfect Choice,’ where they offered services such as sofa and carpet cleaning.
The incident occurred on January 2, when 24-year-old Owais and his 20-year-old brother, along with their friend, were sent to Ghotki for a cleaning job.
Owais' mother spoke with him before his departure, and upon arrival in Ghotki, Owais called her to express concerns about the people he was meeting, suspecting them to be dangerous. Shortly after the call, both of his phones were turned off.
On January 3, Owais managed to contact his uncle, Nauman, and informed him that the kidnappers were demanding Rs6 million.
A video was later sent to Owais' phone via WhatsApp, showing all three men chained, with the kidnappers threatening to kill them unless the ransom was paid. The captors set a two-day deadline for the payment.
Nauman, the uncle of the victims, who works as an auto-rickshaw driver, registered an abduction case against the unknown assailants at Rizvia Society police station.
The police have filed a case under Section 365-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, relating to kidnapping for ransom. The investigation has now been handed over to the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC).
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has taken note of the incident and authorities are working to secure the release of the victims and apprehend the kidnappers. The investigation is ongoing, and the police have appealed to the public for any information that could assist in identifying the perpetrators.
