Gen Asim Munir vows decisive response to threats against Pakistan's peace

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited Peshawar on Monday where he met with political leaders from various parties in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to discuss the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.

During the meeting, he stressed that while adversaries may attempt to spread fear and instability, Pakistan's security forces will not retreat and will respond decisively to any efforts aimed at disrupting peace in the country, Express News reported.

According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar upon his arrival in the city. He was briefed in detail about the current security situation, including ongoing counterterrorism operations against the extremist group "Khawarij" and other threats.

During the visit, the army chief commended the sacrifices and determination of the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism. He noted that the country's security forces had achieved exemplary success in combating terrorism, making the nation proud of their efforts.

He highlighted the significant progress made in weakening terrorist groups, with the elimination of key leaders and the destruction of their networks, sending a strong message that there is no place for terrorism in Pakistan. He reassured that this fight will continue until its logical conclusion.

General Munir also praised the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies in safeguarding citizens and maintaining law and order. He pointed out that many attacks had been thwarted, contributing to the stability of the nation.

The army chief underscored that every operation carried out by the forces was a testament to their commitment, professionalism, and preparedness.

Addressing the political leaders, he delivered a clear message: any attempt to disrupt the country’s peace would be met with a decisive and overwhelming response.

He stated, “The enemy may try to spread fear and chaos, but we will not back down. We will deal with the hostile elements with an iron fist, and they will suffer significant losses.”

COAS Munir also expressed his appreciation for the high morale of the Pakistan Army’s personnel, noting their unwavering resolve to protect the sovereignty of the nation.

He maintained that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies are united as an invincible force in the country’s fight against terrorism.

Following his visit to military installations, General Munir met with political leaders from various parties. The leaders agreed on the need for a unified political voice and public support in the fight against terrorism.
