ISLAMABAD:

The federal government has declared Wi-Fi routers to be insecure. In this regard, the National Information Technology Board (NITB) has issued an advisory to all organizations regarding security threats associated with wireless networks.

The advisory outlines cybersecurity risks related to using Wi-Fi networks and provides precautionary measures.

The advisory emphasizes the importance of securing Wi-Fi routers as they are a critical component of modern ICT infrastructure.

The NITB says due to the increasing vulnerabilities, default security configurations, and lack of user awareness, malicious actors can gain unauthorized access to networks or systems, install malware, and steal sensitive information.
