Jennifer Garner speaks up about L.A. fires and helping community: "My heart bleeds for my friends"

Speaking with MSNBC anchor Katy Tur on Friday, Jennifer Garner opened up about the impact of the Palisades and Eaton fires on her neighbourhood and how her community is dealing with the loss of a friend who was not able to evacuate in time. 

"I did lose a friend, and for our church, it's really tender so I don't feel like we should talk about it yet". I did lose a friend. She didn't get out in time.", the actress shared. 

Garner has also partnered up with World Central Kitchen's chef José Andrés to help those affected by the wildfires that claimed five lives and destroyed more than a thousand structures. She worked as a volunteer at one of his many pop-up locations around L.A. County.

"World Central Kitchen and Chef José just come in and... 'We've got you. We've got this handled. Don't worry", the actress said praising the chef.

"My heart bleeds for my friends," Garner stated, explaining that she feels "guilty" walking through her house when so many from her community can no longer do so. Despite her feelings, the actress is determined to do as much as she can to help

"You know, what can I do? How can I help? What can I offer? What do I have to offer with these hands and these walls and the safety that I have?".
