Three intelligence operatives were killed and another was injured when suspected militants ambushed their vehicle in Bannu district on Wednesday.
Sources said that the incident took place near the semi-tribal Frontier Region Jani Khel, when suspected militants opened fire on a double-cabin pick-up, which was on its way to the Bakkakhel area.
The deceased were later identified as Yasin Khan, Rasta Baz and Shah Fayyaz, while the injured was identified as Hidyatullah. One of the dead was the driver of the vehicle, sources said.
A local official told The Express Tribune there were two attackers who were riding on a motorcycle.
Security sources in Peshawar said that the attack took place in the Nurar area at around 8 am. The official said that two persons were killed and two others were injured in the attack.
He said that the deceased were civilians and one of them was the vehicle’s driver and other was a local informant, adding that the two intelligence operatives were critically injured. The dead and injured were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Bannu.
Separately, dead bodies of two suspected militants were recovered from the southern Lakki Marwat district of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa late on Tuesday, sources said.
The bullet-riddled bodies were recovered from the Paharkhel area, some eight kilometers from Lakki Marwat.
The bodies were later shifted to a hospital in Lakki Marwat. A leaflet found attached with the bodies said that both of them used to work for militants and whosoever will work for them will meet the same fate.
Sources said that a white shroud was wrapped around both bodies and their names were inscribed over it, identifying them as Rizwan and Saadullah. The bodies were later handed over to their families after post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, a purported spokesperson of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan called reporters in Lakki Marwat and said that the men were their members who had been taken into custody by security forces.

@Akthar: Get a life ... and grow up please ... Lal Masjid was no ordinary mosque .. There were criminals inside it ... and they were challenging the writ of the government ... No one gave them right to impose their own views and laws .. If they are not happy with the way this society and its elected leaders are ... they can immigrate to another country of their choice, that suits their own ideas or should confine themselves to preaching inside the mosques .. thats what mosque are for ... instead of spreading anarchy and taking up guns against the rest of 90% of population. Your so called Talibans were supported by a dictator not by every one else and that dictator is no more .. It is responsibility of the government to secure our border and not let any one cross the border without permission. No one is targeting any innocent people in NWFP stop making it look like ethnic issue as I am a Pukhtoon from Peshawar myself .. the situation is created due to naivety of some people in FATA who do not respect international border.
@Lalai: You mean to say the anti state criminals who attack Pakistanis will turn on their foreign masters in India and Afghanistan. I know they are running out of steam so maybe you are right that they will turn on the Indians and Afghanis who are paying them.
As long as the talebans leaves us common people alone and fight with khaki/isi, i dont care! It is the khaki/isi that created this monsters while benefiting and filling their pockets with $$$ aid from uncle sam! What did the awaam get? Daily bomb blast and mayhem, no jobs, no security,no education, no hope!!!!
@Akthar: Point taken brother.
I am stunned at the way these things go about and are report. Aren't ISI folks supposed to be undercover? And why did the police officer so casually gave it out that those killed were ISI officers? Strange !!!!
Im agree with Akhtar....As you sow so shall you Reap............In my View….All humans born in the same way..As we are. This the society/community that molds new born baby into wrong. In my view no one is terrorist, no one is criminal, no one on the wrong way and no one born as Nobel, but the society, injustice, corruption and misuse are the main roots. Today situation in the world are because of the same reasons....Injustice. Identification of truth and root causes and its cure are the only way to make the situation peaceful. So to establish peace justice comes 1st.
The robot eating the creator....it is a normal routine all along history. But the best lesson of history is that nobody learns from history. When the robots revolt because of some fault in their software first they eat the creators and then anyone they can lay their hands on.
@Amer Khan: If these guys are mercenaries, then what
s our Army & ISI. The Mujahideen/Taliban were highly respected before 9/11 & now they have been demoted from Mujahideen to Militants. For what? American Aid & now chinese aid. So who
s the mercenary here? Why did Army slaughter women & children in Lal Masjid? For China, right? Imran Khan knows the truth & thats why he doesn
t condemn such incidents.Well, the real truth is that these guys are just the mercenaries and their masters are from abroad, those masters want instability in PK whether that is by killing low ranking isi officials or by killing civilians. We must all unite to defeat them.
The Pakistan Army/ISI takes orders from US/China to target innocent muslims in NWFP. Reprisal will happen & this is just the beginning.
The monster is now going after the source itself.
Dont blame others, Strengthen ISI & Army That no one dare to attack us wether mossad cia raw & taliban etc................ This is not americans war now its our war to establish govt. rule over whole PAKISTAN.
This definitely seems like someone had tipped them off
@Zaid Hamid: Just stop blaming others. Those attacking Pakistan military are not Hindus, Jews or Christians. All Muslims.
CIA, RAW and MOSSAD
