The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to announce the squad for the Champions Trophy very soon, but the million-dollar question remains: will Saim Ayub's name be included? The deadline for submitting the team for the ICC Champions Trophy is Saturday.
According to sources, from January 12 to February 11, the board can make changes to the players at its discretion. After February 12, any player changes will require approval from the ICC Technical Committee. Until February 11, more than 15 players can be submitted for consideration.
On the other hand, the PCB is expected to send a list of 15 players along with reserves. The decision regarding the inclusion of Saim Ayub in the squad will depend on his fitness reports. Saim Ayub's name may be submitted with a fitness condition attached.
The injury, which occurred during the match against South Africa, led to a fracture in Ayub's ankle. In response, the PCB decided to send him to London for a comprehensive medical assessment to ensure he receives the best care possible.
While Ayub's participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy remains uncertain, the final decision on his inclusion in the provisional squad will be made after additional consultations with medical specialists in London.
