The DIG Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Asif Ijaz Shaikh has suspended three officials for their alleged involvement in short-term kidnapping of a citizen. Their case was transferred for further investigation to the Anti violent crime cell (AVCC).
Letters of suspension were issued for Sub-Inspector Raja Muhammad Basheer, posted in the Intelligence Wing in CTD Civil Lines, and two constables Muhammad Umar and Sahibzada Ali Raza for their involvement in the crime.
It may be recalled that a cryptocurrency trader - Arsalan - was abducted by cops in civvies riding a police mobile, wearing no number plate, from Manghopir area. Later, the kidnappers took Arsalan near the Saddar passport office and transferred the $340,000 to different accounts from the victim's account with the help of his mobile phone and escaped, leaving him near Quaid-e-Azam mausoleum.
After the initial investigation of the incident, the AVCC police arrested eight accused including the policemen. Constable Ali Raza, posted in CTD Civil Lines Intelligence Wing, is still absconding.
