Megan Thee Stallion has been granted a five-year restraining order against rapper Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence.
The order, issued on January 9, 2025, will remain in effect until 2030.
Megan, whose real name is Megan Pete, alleged that Lanez (Daystar Peterson) has been harassing her from behind bars following his conviction for shooting at her feet in July 2020. Judge Richard Bloom confirmed Megan’s request, stating she met the "burden of proof" required for the restraining order.
In her filing, Megan described Lanez as a “violent and dangerous criminal” and expressed fears for her safety even after his release. She also accused him of using third-party “bloggers” to spread defamatory content about her while incarcerated.
Testifying via video call during Thursday's hearing, Megan shared her emotional struggles and lingering trauma. “I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time I won’t make it,” she told the court. Megan also recounted how she hoped to move forward after Lanez’s sentencing but has continued to face public scrutiny and personal fears.
Lanez was sentenced in December 2022 on three felony counts related to the 2020 shooting. Megan documented her experience in the Prime Video release, Megan Thee Stallion: Her Words, which debuted in late October. The documentary delves into the physical and emotional toll of the incident on her life and career.
