Lee purchased the Malibu property in November 2019, following her split from former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. The home held significant sentimental value, representing a personal achievement she had aspired to since her early days as a waitress in 1989. In her post, Lee reflected on the memories created in the house and the solace it provided during her "darkest moments."

Despite the profound loss, Lee emphasized her gratitude for the safety of her loved ones, stating, "Everyone is safe, that is all that matters." She also expressed concern for her community and appreciation for the firefighters and first responders battling the blazes. Lee's sentiments resonate with many residents who have been affected by the wildfires, which have led to mass evacuations and the destruction of numerous homes in the Los Angeles area.

The wildfires have impacted several celebrities, including Mandy Moore and Jamie Lee Curtis, who have shared their evacuation experiences. The fires have burned over 11,000 acres, resulting in at least two confirmed deaths and widespread property damage.
