KARACHI:

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has taken a step to regulate graveyard fees in the city. As per the decision, citizens will pay Rs14,300 for grave space in registered cemeteries across the city from Wednesday onwards.

This decision was made on the instructions of Mayor Murtaza Wahab at a meeting, attended by Deputy Mayor Salman Murad, Municipal Commissioner Karachi Afzal Zaidi, and Director Municipal Services Zulfiqar.

To ensure implementation, Director KMC for Graveyard Sarwar Alam visited KMC-run cemeteries and issued directions to adhere to the official rate and byelaws.

He emphasised that only KMC-registered individuals will be allowed to work in cemeteries, and anyone charging more than the set rate will face stern action.
