MUZAFFARABAD:

Highways authorities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) were busy keep the roads open in the region after heavy snow fall in upper Neelum Valley and other areas, officials told The Express Tribune on Wednesday.

AJK Highways chief Sohail Qureshi said that heavy machinery was being used constantly to open the roads, which had been closed because of the snowfall. He said that the Neelum Highway from Chalhana to Grace Valley was open for tourists.

Earlier this week, continuous snowfall in Neelum Valley and its surrounding areas resulted in the closure of all connecting roads, causing significant disruption for both locals and tourists. Because of the blocked roads people in many areas faced difficulties, according to reports.
