Stage set for district bar polls

A tough contest is anticipated for the presidency among three candidates.

The stage is set for the annual elections of the Rawalpindi District Bar Association (RDBA), which are scheduled to take place on January 11.

The incumbent body will present its annual report and candidates will enthusiastically present their manifestos amidst vibrant election activity during a projection meeting that will be held tomorrow (Thursday).

A total of 5,400 eligible voters of the bar who will cast their vote on the polling day. Voting will take place from 9am to 5pm to be followed by the counting of votes.

A tough contest is anticipated for the presidency among three candidates: Shahid Mughal, Sardar Manzar Bashir, and Tariq Mehmood Sajid Awan. The three have extensive legal and political experience.

For the position of the secretary, an interesting competition will take place among Qamarul Haq Niazi, Asad Mehmood Malik and Junaid Ahmed Nawaz Raja.

For the vice-presidency, female lawyer Naila Faisal Malik has been elected unopposed. The joint secretary's position will see a one-on-one contest between Chaudhry Amir Shahzad and Rana Hashir Hussain.
