The capital's high court has ordered the secretary defense and the chief of the Airport Security Force (ASF) to submit reports on the disappearance of a citizen, Kashif Hussian, upon his return to the country from Iraq.
A single-member bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) comprising Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri on Tuesday took up a petition filed by Hussain's wife against his alleged abduction from the Islamabad International Airport.
According to the report submitted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Hussain landed at Islamabad International Airport on an emergency passport after overstaying in Iraq.
His immigration process was completed on December 30, 2024, at 12:34am. Following an initial inquiry, Kashif Hussain was allowed to leave the FIA counter. He is neither in FIA custody nor wanted for arrest.
In a written order, the IHC noted that it directed the ASF director general to appoint an officer to investigate the matter and submit a report to the court in ten days.
The court also ordered a review of CCTV footage to determine whether the alleged abductee departed from the airport after landing or was taken into custody by another agency.
The court also mandated the Ministry of Defense to submit a report on the alleged disappearance within ten days. The case hearing has been adjourned until January 16.
