Two accused managed to escape from the Lahore High Court (LHC) premises on Monday after their pre-arrest bail petitions were dismissed in a case involving the alleged sale of 160 tractors on forged documents.
Justice Farooq Haider of the LHC presided over the hearing, during which the bail petitions of the accused, Rameez-ul-Hassan and Rashid Ali, were rejected after their legal counsels failed to satisfy the court.
The defense argued that the allegations against their clients were baseless and part of a fabricated story to falsely implicate them.
They pointed out that Rashid Ali had left his job at the company in 2022, and the First Information Report (FIR) was registered two months after the alleged crime, casting doubts on its credibility.
The counsels requested the court to confirm the bail, claiming there was no substantial evidence against the accused.
