Reports of Australian travel vlogger Luke Damant’s death have been greatly exaggerated. The YouTuber, known for his cheese paratha obsession, has hilariously responded to the rumors of his demise, which claimed he was “pronounced dead in Jalalabad” after disappearing in Afghanistan.
Damant, who had been in South Asia, including Pakistan, posted about his whereabouts at the start of December, but the wild rumors picked up speed as he took a break over the New Year. Reports claimed the famed travel YouTuber had gone missing, some began to speculate his death as well!
Guess you can say the internet got carried away...again!
In his signature humorous style, Damant posted a mock obituary to his social media, joking, “It is with deep sadness that our adventurist, inspiring and loving Luke Damant has had his last paratha. Luke was attempting the Guinness World Record for the most cheese parathas eaten in 1 hour. After a strong start, getting to 14 in the first 30 minutes, it was number 15 where Luke didn’t chew his paratha, swallowed, and magically turned into one.”
He continued the absurdity by adding, “Authorities are still trying to figure out how a man can possibly turn into a cheese paratha, but it is believed the old saying is true… You are what you eat.”
Damant took to Instagram stories to clear the air. “I can’t believe I even have to make this post,” he said. “Guys, I’m f****ng chilling! For years I’ve been trying to say that the media fakes f*****g news, and hundreds of thousands of people think I’m dead in a day.”
He denied having anything to do with the confusion and said, “We took the holidays off, had a little fun, and all of a sudden, I’m dead! I’d love to take credit, genius marketing, incredible plot but I have to call it off.”

While joking about the situation, Damant acknowledged the surreal experience of hearing that everyone thought he was dead. “It is a crazy experience when everyone thinks you’re dead,” he said, appreciating the outpouring of love from his followers.
To those who celebrated the rumors of his death, Damant had a pointed message: “F*** you! I’m back mother f*****r.”
And for his fans, he added a gentle reminder: “If I go offline for a few weeks, for a few months, that’s just me, we’re alive and we’re chilling.”
As always, Damant’s story serves as a reminder: don’t believe everything you read online, especially when it’s fueled by fake news and viral hoaxes.
