Five individuals have been arrested in connection with the brutal shooting that resulted in the deaths of three citizens and injuries to two others in Attock, stemming from a land dispute. The authorities also recovered firearms from the suspects' possession, with separate charges filed under the Arms Ordinance.
According to an FIR filed by Muhammad Ejaz at the Jund Police Station, the incident occurred on December 19. Ejaz, along with Muhammad Usman and Muhammad Tufail, were riding motorcycles when they encountered a group of assailantsAmir Shahzad, Mammarz Khan, Muhammad Kamran, and Karam Khanon another set of motorcycles traveling from Gilyal to their village. When the two groups reached Raja Chowk near CPEC, they were confronted by Shahzad Khan, Nazakat, Zulfiqar, Qadeer, and Intisar, who were armed with guns and sticks.
The confrontation quickly escalated into verbal exchanges, after which Shahzad Khan, Nazakat, and Zulfiqar opened fire on the victims. The attack left Shehzad, Khan, and Kamran dead, while Intisar and Qadeer assaulted Ejaz and Usman with sticks, causing injuries. The dispute is believed to have been rooted in a longstanding land conflict.
Following the tragic incident, the District Police Officer (DPO) directed an urgent investigation. A special team, led by the SHO Jund, was formed with a clear mandate to apprehend the suspects involved in the attack. By using modern policing techniques, the police apprehended five suspectsShahzad Abbas, Nazakat Khan, Intisar, Zulfiqar, Qadeer Abbasin a short period.
