OKARA:

Police claimed to have arrested a suspect accused of raping a 17-year-old girl under the guise of assisting her with admission to a football academy.

The incident occurred in the Benazir Road area, within the jurisdiction of A Division Police Station. The victim's mother, Asma Nazir, reported that her daughter, who is passionate about football, was deceived by Ali Hasnain, a resident of Sheikh Basti.

Hasnain visited their home, claiming he would help fill out an application form for the academy. While Asma was away purchasing food, he allegedly raped the girl at gunpoint.

Upon returning home, the mother found her daughter in distress and learned of the traumatic event.

Following Asma's complaint, the police registered a case against Hasnain and swiftly apprehended him.

District Police Officer (DPO) Rashid Hidayat confirmed that Ayesha is receiving medical care and has been taken to the hospital under the supervision of female police officers for necessary medical examinations and DNA testing.

The DPO emphasised that the DNA results will be crucial in establishing the facts of the case and assured that if the medical examination confirms rape, Hasnain will face severe legal consequences.

The investigation is being led by A Division Police, with Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) City Mehr Yousuf and Station House Officer (SHO) Rab Nawaz Wattoo overseeing the proceedings.

DPO Hidayat reiterated the police's commitment to delivering justice for the victim.

Earlier on December 30, 2024 two men allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old deaf and mute girl in the village of Kharipur Sharif, Pattoki.

The victim was reportedly fetching water from a hand pump near her home when the suspects Adeel and Husnain forcibly dragged her to an abandoned house.

The suspects took turns assaulting the victim and recorded a video of the act. When nearby residents heard noises and entered the house, the suspects fled, leaving the girl in a distressed and vulnerable state.

Using gestures, the girl identified her attackers, and the witnesses also confirmed recognising the suspects.
