The Rawalpindi High Court Division Bench, headed by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, quashed the sentences of dual life imprisonment and a cumulative fine of Rs700,000 awarded to Eid Rajana, the accused in the famous murder case of a woman in the Karshani police station, Mianwali district, and acquitted the accused.
The accused's counsel, Hina Nauman and Ikramullah Khan Niazi communicated that the case of kidnapping and subsequent murder of the deceased Nafisa Bibi was registered by her grandfather Azizullah on January 17, 2023.
The case was registered as a blind murder case. Later, the plaintiff had his sister-in-law, Eid Rajana, named as the accused, after which, she was arrested.
According to the counsels, the trial court had sentenced the accused to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs200,000 for the crime of kidnapping and another life imprisonment with a fine of Rs500,000 for the crime of murder on the basis of mere accusations.
Acknowledging the arguments, the court cancelled the sentence.
