Ellie Goulding has opened up about experiencing some of the "hardest times" of her life in 2024 as she looked forward to the new year.
The 38-year-old singer, who split from her husband Caspar Jopling in February, reflected on the emotional journey through a video montage shared on her Instagram.
Alongside the video, Ellie wrote, “Strange that the hardest times can exist at the same time as feeling the most alive,” expressing gratitude to those who supported her throughout the year. She thanked her fans, her son, and the women in her life, acknowledging that their support has been pivotal in helping her through the tough moments. The video featured moments from Ellie's year, including red carpet appearances, workouts with a trainer, photoshoots, and downtime with friends and family.
In addition to her separation from Caspar, Ellie also recently ended a relationship with surf instructor Armando Perez, whom she had met in Costa Rica. Despite their strong chemistry and enjoyable time together, sources close to the couple revealed that their different lifestyles ultimately led to the end of the relationship.
Ellie’s connection with Armando came after her marriage ended, and the two had formed a bond during their time spent together on the beach. However, their contrasting lives – Ellie’s as a famous pop star and Armando’s quiet life in Costa Rica – led them to part ways. They remain close friends despite the split.
Ellie had confirmed her separation from Caspar earlier in the year, following media reports. She wrote on Instagram, “In light of recent stories, I feel I have been left with no choice but to let you all know that Caspar and I privately separated some time ago. We remain the closest of friends and have been successfully co-parenting with our son's best interests at heart.”
Despite the personal challenges, Ellie has stayed focused on her career and is grateful for the love and support she continues to receive.
