Earlier, an animated New Year’s Eve Doodle also marked the occasion, featuring a ticking clock in place of the middle "O" in the word "Google," building excitement as the countdown to midnight commenced.

As the clock struck midnight, marking the beginning of 2025, the celebrations began across the country, following the global festivities. Major cities in Pakistan came alive with fireworks that lit up the skies, casting a vibrant glow as citizens gathered to usher in the new year.
A highlight of the celebrations was at the Governor House in Karachi, where an attempt to set a global record for the longest fireworks display was made. Governor Kamran Tessori announced that the display would last for 40 minutes, with large crowds gathering to witness the spectacular event.
Meanwhile, heightened security measures were in place across the country, with authorities keeping a close watch on public safety. The police issued warnings regarding aerial firing, particularly in larger cities such as Karachi, assuring citizens of strict legal action against any violators.
Pakistan rings in 2025 with renewed hope
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in their separate messages, congratulated the Pakistani nation and the international community on the beginning of the New Year and hoped the New Year might bring peace, stability, progress and prosperity to the nation.
"I hope that the New Year will be a year of progress and prosperity and peace and stability at the global level. To get the country out of the challenges, the nation has to work with unity, discipline, continuous hard work and dedication," Zardari said in his message.
"I pray that the sun of 2025 will rise with the promise of progress and prosperity for our country Pakistan. I also pray that in the New Year, we correct our individual and collective mistakes committed in the past year and make a new beginning and start a new bright future," said Shehbaz.
