Drake recently revealed that Jeff Bezos rejected his pitch for a TV show inspired by his ‘God’s Plan’ music video.
The rapper shared that the idea came to him after filming the video, in which he gave away large sums of money to people in need. Drake approached Bezos with the concept, but according to him, Bezos declined the proposal.
The show was envisioned as a global series, drawing inspiration from the late Anthony Bourdain’s travel shows. Drake hoped to travel the world with billionaires, giving away tens of millions of dollars to those facing financial hardships, while highlighting the personal stories behind these charitable acts.
The rapper wanted to create a platform that would put a face to philanthropy, much like the impactful moments seen in his ‘God’s Plan’ video, which has amassed over a billion views on YouTube.
During a recent livestream with Adin Ross, Drake discussed the concept further, explaining that he envisioned producing ten episodes each year. The show would involve wealthy individuals, potentially billionaires, coming together to donate large sums of money, either competitively or as part of a slice-of-life format.
