A thrilling showdown at Margalla Hills

Rock climbing contest features athletes from across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD:

A vibrant rock climbing festival at Margalla Hills, featuring the National Rock Climbing Championship 2024 held at the Sadipur Rocks. Athletes from across the country, representing various departments, participated in open and youth categories.

Mir Hassan Faiz from Islamabad secured first place in the open category, Saifuddin from SNGPL came second, and Mir Abu Zar Faiz clinched third. Huzaifa Imran from Islamabad earned first place in the youth category, followed by Saad Aslam from AJK and Umar Bilal Zafar from the Higher Education Commission in second and third positions, respectively.

Jury President Rehmatullah Qureshi oversaw the event. Karrar Haideri, Najib Khattak, Hanzala Hussain Zafar, and Zaheer Ahmed served as jury members.

A special training session was also conducted for aspiring climbers from Sweet Home, Aghosh, and the twin cities. Rehmatullah Qureshi, Hanzala Hussain, Zaheer Ahmed, and Safiuddin provided instruction on climbing gear, fundamental techniques, grip types, and climbing moves. Participants also experienced hands-on climbing.

ACP President Abu Zafar Sadiq delivered a lecture highlighting the importance of rock climbing and outdoor pursuits, expressing gratitude to provincial units and departments such as HEC and SNGPL for their active participation.

Notable attendees included ACP Vice President, Ayaz Ahmed Shigri, renowned mountaineer Muhammad Ashraf Sadpara, Sheri Jadoon, and representatives from various departments, provinces, Sweet Home, and Aghosh.
