Voluntary repatriation of Afghans stressed

Amir Muqam has said the government was encouraging the voluntary and dignified repatriation of Afghan refugees.

Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Engr Amir Muqam has said the government was encouraging the voluntary and dignified repatriation of Afghan refugees to their homeland.

He was addressing the closing ceremony as the chief guest at the Afghan Cricket League 2024 organized by the Education and Youth Development Cell of the K-P Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees in collaboration with GIZ and UNHCR held here at the Islamia College University.

Muqam, in his keynote address, while congratulating the winning team and organizers of the cricket league, said Pakistan was the only country in the world that was still hosting about three million Afghan refugees and sharing all facilities including educational institutions, hospitals, businesses, hotels, transport etc with them throughout their long 45-year stay here since 1979.
