PESHAWAR:

Like the rest of the world, the Christian community in Peshawar and various parts of the province celebrated Christmas with great religious enthusiasm.

Special prayers were held in churches across Peshawar, with a large number of community members participating. Prayers were also offered for the safety and prosperity of the nation.

Special security arrangements were made at the churches, and unauthorised individuals were not allowed to enter. For the entertainment of children from the Christian community, swings were set up, while the community also celebrated by cutting cakes and preparing special dishes.

Earlier, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary extended his warm Christmas greetings and best wishes to the Christian community.

In his message, he highlighted Christmas as a time to reflect on and uphold the universal values of peace, tolerance, and brotherhood.

He expressed hope that the occasion would bring peace and prosperity worldwide.

The CS reaffirmed that Pakistan's Constitution guarantees special protections to minorities, ensuring their rights and freedom to celebrate their religious festivals. He also recognised the significant contributions of the Christian community to Pakistan's development since its inception, emphasising their vital role in the nation's progress.
