Indian singer takes on 'Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan' once more

Pinkvilla shared a video clip of Indian singer Kanika Kapoor and YouTuber Thibault Maurin on Instagram. In a surprise public interaction, Kanika approached the pianist with a gentle introduction about herself, adding that she has seen him on social media, and requested him to play an Indian song.

Thibault enthusiastically agreed, which allowed Kanika to hand over her phone and show him the song she wanted him to play. "Oh, wait! I know this one!" the YouTuber exclaimed and promptly glided his fingers along his instrument. The song turned out to be Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan, a hit track from the 2015 film Roy.

The 46-year-old singer swayed to the soft instrumental, cradling her pet dog in her arms. Instantly inspired, she began singing to the beat. The spontaneous performance was an instant head-turner. It garnered the attention of passersby, who gathered around and watched the serene moment unfold. At the end, they applauded the performance.

The sweet moment resurfaced on social media two months after the release of the original video on YouTube. The impact of the Lovely singer's vocals also wasn't lost on her fans. "The way every person from India in the vicinity immediately looked up at the first words of her voice!" a user gushed. Others had much to say about the pianist's skills and charisma.

"That was really cool! Thank you," Kanika told the pianist, who was just as enthralled by her vocals. The sentiment was echoed by the comments section on YouTube. "Our favourite legend, the Kanika Kapoor," a user noted. "What a beautiful collaboration. One of my favourite Hindi songs! It's an excellent dance number!" said another.

Thibault, who uploaded the original video on his channel back in early October, has featured many vocal talents on his virtual space, including a number of Indian singers and artists, such as radio jockey Aparshakti Khurana and Nadaaniyan singer Akshath Acharya.

Kanika, on the other hand, has been keeping busy by lighting up the wedding season with her new song Sui Ve Sui in collaboration with the duo Meet Bros. The performance centres Niti Taylor, whose charm and exuberant dance moves have been stealing hearts across social media. "This song is on repeat! Kanika Kapoor's new song is a masterpiece!" a fan praised. "Every aspect of this song, including the lyrics and singer, is perfectly aligned and visually stunning," added another.
