President, PM strike harmonious tone

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed their commitment to move forward in consultation with all the political stakeholders for the progress of the country during a meeting held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday.

Prime Minister Shahbaz met with President Zardari at the President's Office and discussed the ongoing government negotiations with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the Madrasa Bill, as well as the overall political, economic and security situation of the country.

The demands initially presented by the PTI, including the release of the PTI founder and other prisoners and a judicial inquiry into the incidents of May 9, 2023 and November 26, 2024 were discussed in the meeting.

The two leaders also discussed matters related to legislation in parliament and decided to move forward in consultation with all the stakeholders. The president assured the prime minister of his cooperation for the country's progress and stability.

The prime minister expressed his best wishes for the health of President Zardari. The meeting was also attended by Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and Naveed Qamar.
