The One-Stop Protection Center (OSPC) for the survivours of gender based violence (GBV) was inaugurated in Hyderabad on Monday with the objective to provide integrated legal, medical, psychological and social assistance under one roof.
Minister for Women Development Department Shaheena Sher Ali, Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Iqbal Memon and DIGP Crime and Investigation Amir Farooqi performed the inauguration.
The minister said her department played a pivotal role in providing services and referrals to the safe houses for GBV survivors. She added that the center is part of the initiative to provide optimal protection to the victims of GBV in the province. According to her, more centers will be opened in the rest of the province.
The Additional CS Memon said the aim of the OSPC is that no daughter of Sindh should suffer eternally. He believed that the facility will offer a range of services to the victims to deal with their traumatic life experiences.
DIGP Farooqi said the center has been made functional in Hyderabad as a pilot project which will help the officials to refine and strengthen the model before replicating the OSPC in other districts of Sindh. He expressed hope that with the passage of time more and more GBV survivors would be able to avail the services of the center.
