Fitness influencer Miguel Angel Aguilar dies at 43 months after being shot during robbery

Popular fitness influencer Miguel Angel Aguilar has passed away at 43, three months after being shot during a robbery in Los Angeles, California.

The social media personality, who had an impressive following of 50,000 across his platforms, succumbed to his injuries from the September 13 incident on Saturday, as announced by his fitness brand Self Made Training Facility.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our founder and CEO, Miguel Angel Aguilar,” the company shared in an Instagram post on Saturday.

“After a courageous three-month battle following the tragic incident that took place on September 13th, 2024, Miguel peacefully passed away on December 21st, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones.”

“Miguel was more than just a leader. He was a visionary, an inspiration, a mentor, a father, a husband, family, and a dear friend to many.”

“His unwavering dedication to Self Made Training Facility, his passion for the fitness industry and entrepreneurial spirit have left an enduring legacy,” the caption added.

The post highlighted how Aguilar “revolutionized personal training and inspired countless individuals to pursue their fitness and entrepreneurial goals” through his online presence.

“As we mourn the loss of our dear friend and leader, we also celebrate his extraordinary life and the positive impact he had on so many. Miguel’s spirit will live on through Self Made Training Facility,” the message continued.

“We will continue to honor his legacy by staying true to our mission and values while continuing to innovate and serve our franchises, trainers, members, clients, and the rest of our current and future Self Made Family members. Miguel Angel Aguilar, 1981-2024.”

Aguilar had been in critical condition since September 13, after being caught in an attempted robbery in Los Angeles, as reported by KTLA.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) stated that Aguilar and his wife, celebrity hair stylist Priscilla Valles, were confronted by four armed individuals in the driveway of their Bel-Air home on September 13.

The armed suspects shot Aguilar multiple times, including once in the face, before fleeing the scene, according to TMZ. LAPD officers responded to the incident around 4:30 p.m. that day.
