The Excise police on Sunday raided an illegal liquor factory operating in a housing society on the Superhighway.
Cashing in on the Christmas and New Year season, the suspects were filling locally brewed liquor in bottles of famous foreign brands.
Acting on a tip off a team of the Excise Narcotics Control Wing raided the house and seized the liquor factory, a large quantity of locally prepared liquor, chemicals, stickers and 254 empty bottles of foreign brands.
Narcotics Control Karachi Director Riaz Hussain Khoso, told a press conference at DG Narcotics Control Wing Secretariat, that his team arrested a suspect from Korangi area yesterday and recovered 12 bottles of foreign liquor. On checking it turned out that the bottles contained cheap local moonshine, which the bootlegger was delivering as 'vilayti daroo'.
The suspect spilled the beans during questioning and shared the location from where he was picking up the fake liquor.
Subsequently, a raiding party of the Narcotics Wing swooped down on the said house on the highway for a major liquor bust.
