The Municipal Corporation added a new public park for the citizens of Rawalpindi. The construction work of the public park, established on 35 kanals of land for Rs120 million has entered its final stage. The cost is expected to increase by another Rs30-40 million as construction goes on.
A total of 35 kanals of government land in Khayaban-e-Sir Syed Sector 3, previously occupied by various individuals, has been reclaimed. With the assistance of MNA Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, the Punjab government has allocated Rs120 million in funds for the development of a public park on this land. The construction work of the park has commenced under the supervision of Chief Municipal Officer Imran Ali.
The park features a walking track, grass ground, children's swings, play area, outdoor gym, lighting, washrooms, sitting area and benches. Beautiful flower beds and plants will also be planted.
The installation of the park's fence and gate has already been completed. Additionally, lighting has been arranged for both the interior and exterior of the park. Upon completion of the construction work, the park will be handed over to the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) after an inauguration ceremony.
Chief Officer Imran Ali stated that the construction work of the park is progressing rapidly and has entered its final stage. "The park will be opened to the public after an inauguration ceremony in the new year. In addition to paving the paths leading to Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, trees are being planted, and lighting is being arranged," he said.
Morning and evening walks in the park have commenced. According to Imran Ali, the local residents have expressed their happiness over the park's construction.
