Jay-Z’s Roc Nation faces allegations of unethical practices by attorney Tony Buzbee

Houston attorney Tony Buzbee has filed a lawsuit accusing Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and affiliated legal teams of illegally soliciting former clients to sue his firm.

The lawsuit, filed in Harris County District Court, names MJ Legal, Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, Roc Nation, attorney Marcy Croft, and investigator Jessica Santiago as defendants.

Buzbee alleges that investigators approached his former clients with financial offers, including up to $10,000, to join lawsuits against him. He claims these actions are part of a "criminal conspiracy" orchestrated by Roc Nation, which he describes as an unethical and illegal effort to undermine his firm.

According to court records, some investigators used burner phones and fake identities during the alleged solicitation efforts. Audio recordings included in the filing reportedly capture agents admitting to paying individuals and planning to publicize lawsuits against Buzbee.

Roc Nation denied the claims, calling the lawsuit a “sham” and “a pathetic attempt to distract.” Attorneys representing Jay-Z in other legal matters also dismissed the allegations as baseless.

Buzbee has accused Roc Nation and its legal team of attempting to interfere with his firm's ability to represent clients. He stated that the allegations have been reported to the Texas Attorney General’s Office and the District Attorney's Office for investigation.

This lawsuit comes as Buzbee represents victims in separate high-profile cases, including sexual assault allegations against Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z. Buzbee alleges that since taking these cases, he and his family have faced threats and intimidation.
