'Landhi Medical Complex to be switched to solar'

The mayor announced that a drug rehabilitation centre will be established

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced the conversion of Landhi Medical Complex (LMC) to solar energy.

He said that the hospital in the past was non-operational, despite having its building and own staff. Now the hospital has been made operational and its emergency services improved. A previously non-functional mortuary has also been revived and is now offering services to the public.

He added that a solar energy system will be installed in the hospital to cater with the power-outage problem. He also mentioned the availability of the of rabies vaccine in the hospital.

The mayor announced that a drug rehabilitation centre will be established here under the management of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) so that drug addicts could be rehabilitated. Additionally, a plan to set up a cardiac care and dental unit in the hospital is also under consideration.

While talking about the matter of fight between two officers of Jinnah Hospital (JPMC), the mayor said that the court should refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of institutions and added, "Attempts are sometimes made to deliberately harm institutions."

He said that Karachi was once considered one of the five most dangerous cities in the world, but now peace has been established here.
