High on ice, man murders his family

Three including father, brother, niece slain with dagger

PESHAWAR:

Drugs not only harm the user, but can often result in disaster for the families of the addict as was exemplified when a young man, addicted to ice, brutally murdered his father, brother, and niece with a dagger.

In this heart-wrenching tragedy, the suspect's sister-in-law and two young nieces were also severely injured and immediately rushed to the hospital.

According to hospital sources, the condition of two of the injured individuals is critical, while the affected family is deeply engulfed in shock and grief.

The police reported that the arrested suspect, Faizan, was addicted to drugs and had been released from jail some time ago. In the past, he had also injured one of his brothers by firing a gun, but this time, his rage and drug addiction devastated his entire family.

The police arrived at the scene, arrested the suspect along with the murder weapon, and began further investigation into the incident.

This tragedy is nothing short of a catastrophe, not just for the affected family but for the entire area. A sense of fear and panic has spread throughout the neighborhood.

This latest incident has shades of another which occurred in Punjab last year when a drug addict locked his wife and children up in the bedroom of their house, set furniture and other belongings in the room on fire before fleeing in Dijkot.

Locals said that after hearing the screams of the wife and children, neighbours broke the door and saved their lives. The household goods were burnt to ashes due to the fire.

Muhammad Abdul Latif told the police that his 40-year-old daughter, Naseem Bibi, had been married to Ibrahim. They had four children.

Latif said that his son-in-law Ibrahim had been addicted to heroin. He asked his daughter Naseem for money to buy drugs, but when she refused, he assaulted her.
