Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is facing the possibility of losing its hosting rights for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, as broadcasters have raised concerns over the logistical and financial implications of holding matches across four venues.

The tournament, which will feature top cricketing nations, may now be limited to three locations—Karachi, Lahore, and Dubai—due to increased costs and operational difficulties.

Broadcasting the event from multiple venues is proving challenging, with logistical complications and the high costs of coordinating coverage across four sites.

The decision to reduce the number of venues has not been finalised yet. However, sources indicate that Karachi, Lahore, and Dubai are being considered as the primary venues.

The official schedule for the Champions Trophy, which is expected to be revealed shortly, will provide more clarity.

In addition, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have reportedly reached an agreement regarding the tournament.

Fans in Rawalpindi were particularly disappointed by the news, as the city had anticipated hosting several high-profile matches.

Under the newly proposed hybrid model, if India fails to reach the semi-finals or final, the tournament will be entirely held in Pakistan.

However, if India qualifies for these stages, the semi-finals and final will be relocated to the UAE. This decision follows an agreement between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Pakistan regarding the hybrid format, which also promises Pakistan the chance to host future women’s tournaments after 2027.
