Karachi's water supply temporarily halted following a power breakdown at the Dhabeji Pumping Station, which resulted in a 72-inch pipeline bursting. The incident exacerbated the ongoing water crisis in the city, with millions of gallons of water wasted and surrounding areas flooded, Express News reported.

According to the Karachi Water Corporation, the power failure occurred at 5:30 pm, affecting both the Dhabeji and Gharo pumping stations. As a result, the city's water supply was suspended. Power was restored at 6:35 pm, and water distribution resumed shortly thereafter.

The spokesperson for K-Electric confirmed that the temporary disruption in electricity supply was promptly addressed. They reassured that all of the Water Corporation's pumping stations are exempt from load shedding, and K-Electric officials are in continuous contact with Water Corporation authorities.

Despite the restoration of power and water services, the rupture of the 72-inch line has raised concerns about further intensifying the water crisis in Karachi. Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely as the city's water supply remains at risk.
