Inflation appears to be getting out of control as all 60 price control magistrates across the Rawalpindi district have completely failed to control the prices of essential food items.
The District Market Committee (DMC) has come up with a new way to reduce inflation by issuing a rate list of fake low prices of vegetables, fruits, meat and chicken.
The prices of vegetables, fruits, pulses, meat, milk and chicken in the open market are Rs70 to Rs100 higher as compared to the official rate list.
The prices of all bakery products have also been increased by 30%.
In the open market, the price of chicken meat is Rs650 per kilogramme, eggs Rs355 per dozen, open milk Rs220 per litre, yougurt Rs240 per kg, mutton Rs2,200 per kg, beef Rs1,400 per kg, white gram Rs420 per kg, red bean Rs400 per kg, daal channa Rs390 per kg, daal mash Rs600 per kg, ghee Rs550 per kg, and oil is Rs570 per litre.
Potatoes are being sold at Rs120 per kg, onion Rs190 per kg, tomatoes Rs180 per kg, garlic Rs650 per kg, ginger Rs500 per kg, arvi Rs200 per kg, radish Rs50 per kg, carrot Rs100 per kg, green chilli Rs200 per kg , lemon Rs250 per kg, bitter gourd Rs200, peas Rs250 per kg, cucumber Rs80 per kg, and cabbage Rs130 per kg.
