The 2024 Billboard Music Awards, hosted by comedian Michelle Buteau, honored top artists based on Billboard’s year-end performance metrics. Held as a two-hour special, the ceremony introduced three new award categories: Top Hard Rock Artist, Album, and Song.

Zach Bryan led the nominations with 18 nods, followed by Taylor Swift with 16, Morgan Wallen with 15, and Sabrina Carpenter with nine. First-time nominees included Teddy Swims, Tyla, Shaboozey, and Benson Boone. The event featured live performances from Coldplay, SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids, Jelly Roll, Megan Moroney, and more.

Taylor Swift emerged as one of the biggest winners, recognized across categories like Top Hot 100 Songwriter and Top Billboard Global Artist. Zach Bryan clinched Top Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album for his self-titled record, while Sabrina Carpenter won Top Radio Songs Artist and Top Global Artist. Other notable winners included Morgan Wallen, Shaboozey, and Kendrick Lamar.

Newcomer Tyla took home accolades in the Afrobeats category, while Linkin Park excelled in hard rock awards. The event also celebrated global K-pop dominance, with Jung Kook and Stray Kids among the winners.

The night reinforced the cultural significance of music across diverse genres, with Billboard acknowledging streaming dominance, sales figures, and critical acclaim. As the industry evolves, this year’s awards underscored a shift towards a more inclusive and genre-spanning celebration of talent.
