Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan chaired the 11th Board Meeting of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) on Thursday, focusing on major reforms to enhance efficiency and global competitiveness, according to a press statement.
The meeting, attended by TDAP Chairman Zubair Motiwala and key board members, addressed a 14-point agenda targeting structural improvements, event management, and governance.
Opening the meeting, the minister emphasised the need to restructure TDAP for greater efficiency. Newly inducted board members, including senators, were briefed on the authority's structure, functions, and mandate. "Let's start with better structuring of TDAP so we can see how to make it more efficient," stated Kamal Khan.
To enhance security protocols for high-profile events involving ministers, ambassadors, and foreign dignitaries, the minister proposed creating a permanent Director General (DG) Security position within TDAP.
The minister directed the board to establish robust Terms of Reference (TORs) for event management services to ensure quality. He also proposed setting up a permanent TDAP office at the Expo Centre to streamline operations and enhance representation.
Highlighting the government's priority on mineral development, the commerce minister called for dedicated exhibitions to promote the sector. He also proposed classifying minerals as part of the "industry" category to attract investment and attention.
