Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan reiterated his two primary demands, calling for a judicial inquiry into the May 9 and November 26 incidents by the country's senior-most judges, and the release of innocent party workers detained following the violent events.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Imran’s sister, Aleema Khan, highlighted that the PTI leadership has designated the area around D-Chowk as "Shuhada Chowk" (Martyrs' Square), a permanent tribute to those involved in the political unrest.
She announced that every Sunday would now be commemorated as "Youm-e-Shuhada" (Martyrs' Day), with prayers for the martyrs observed globally.
Aleema further revealed that numerous pieces of evidence, including video footage, have already surfaced regarding the events of May 9 and November 26.
She claimed that these facts cannot be concealed, asserting that institutions and hospitals are providing the evidence. "If not today, then tomorrow, the truth will come out," she said.
She also voiced strong criticism of the government’s treatment of overseas Pakistanis. "If our demands are not met, PTI's leadership has instructed overseas Pakistanis not to send remittances to Pakistan," she stated, adding, "These are the same overseas Pakistanis who are denied the right to vote, threatened over the phone, and told that they will be detained upon arrival in Pakistan."
In her statement, Aleema confirmed that a gathering in memory of the martyrs would be held in Bagh-e-Naran in Peshawar, on Sunday.
