Olivia Wilde, known for her role as Dr. Remy “Thirteen” Hadley on the hit medical drama House (2007–2012), recently revealed she received "insane death threats" during her time on the show.

Speaking at the Red Sea International Film Festival, Wilde shared how her character's interracial and bisexual relationships sparked controversy, prompting extra security measures on set.

Wilde’s portrayal of Thirteen was groundbreaking at the time, but she noted how representation has evolved in the years since. “Seeing what’s on television now, if you watch Euphoria, the fact that my character was shocking and groundbreaking then, it’s like, no, it’s nothing,” Wilde said.

The actress has often gravitated towards risk-taking roles, having previously played a queer bartender, Alex Kelly, in The O.C., where her character had same-sex relationships. Reflecting on her career, Wilde emphasized her preference for roles that challenge societal norms. “I’d rather be controversial than boring,” she said.

Wilde’s career choices highlight the shifting landscape of television representation over the past two decades. She expressed pride in her work, adding, “I never thought it should have made headlines that we had a same-sex relationship on a network show.”

Next, Wilde will star in Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, alongside Cooper Hoffman and Charli XCX. The project reignited her passion for filmmaking. “He’s such a force,” Wilde said of Araki, praising his authenticity and dedication to storytelling.

As Wilde continues her career, her willingness to embrace bold, authentic roles cements her status as a trailblazer in Hollywood.
